College of Education

Testing Information

College of Education students who seek teacher licensure are required by federal and/or state requirements to pass tests in basic skills knowledge, content/subject knowledge and professional knowledge prior to receiving a teaching license or certificate. Similarly, students seeking principal licensure may be required to pass a professional knowledge test. The College of Education has structured our programs to meet these requirements. Students in our teacher or principal preparation programs will be directed at various points in their programs to take the appropriate tests. Passing scores are required prior to being issued a recommendation by the College of Education for licensure or certification. The nature, type and specific timing requirements for these tests vary by state. Please check with your University Enrollment Representative and state department of education for specific requirements.
